Math Achievement Academies FREE Sessions Register Through Click & Learn

TEA Mathematics Achievement Academies

This summer, Region 19 Education Service Center, with funding from the Texas Education Agency, will offer Mathematics Achievement Academies for eligible Kinder through Grade 5 teachers.

The mathematics academies include effective and systematic instructional practices in mathematics, including problem solving, the place value system, whole number operations, and fractions. Click here for an overview of the course content and more information from TEA.

A few notes:

  • Please register for a training session through Click n Learn.
  • If a session is full, please submit your name for the waiting list. Any spots that become available will be offered to those on the waiting list.
  • If your plans change after you register, please cancel your registration as soon as possible so that the spot may be offered to a teacher on the waiting list.
  • Teachers who successfully complete all 18 hours may be eligible for a $350 stipend.
  • We thank you for your thoughtful consideration as you determine the training session for which you will register. This allows more teachers to participate in the academy and more students to benefit from the activities.

Additional Information:

Teachers employed at campuses at which 40% or more of the students enrolled are educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program) receive priority in registering to attend the academies.

Teachers who successfully complete all 18 hours of the academy may be eligible to receive the $350 stipend. Stipends will not be provided to teachers who do not meet eligibility and attendance requirements. Successful completion includes the following components.

  • Teachers must teach kindergarten, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3, grade 4 or grade 5 mathematics.
  • Teachers must attend the academy training for a total of 18 hours – 6 hours per day for 3 days.
  • Absences, late arrival, and early departure will disqualify a participant from stipend eligibility.
  • Teachers will need to complete an eligibility verification form at the academy training to receive their stipend. Each teacher will need his or her TSDS unique ID number. Instructions for locating the unique ID number from TEA may be found here.
  • Teachers who attended a mathematics achievement academy in the past and received a stipend for attendance may attend a second mathematics achievement academy if teaching a different grade level. However, these teachers are not eligible for a second stipend for attending a different grade level mathematics academy. These teachers may also be “bumped” from registration should a teacher who has not previously attended an academy need a registration slot.

Please remember that registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a session has reached its maximum number of participants, no additional participants can be added.

Administrators and instructional coaches may attend though they are not eligible for stipends. If a session reaches capacity, administrators and instructional coaches will be removed from the session so that classroom teachers may attend.
